Azure OpenAI Service
OpenAI models (GPT-4o, GPT-4 Turbo, o1, o3) inside your own Azure tenant — GDPR-compliant, regional hosting options, without data ever reaching OpenAI.
Azure OpenAI Service in practice
Azure OpenAI Service provides the OpenAI models inside your own Azure subscription; after Microsoft's portfolio rework they are listed in Microsoft Foundry among the models sold by Azure. For DACH organisations that is the difference between buying an outside service and running a resource in your own tenant: prompts and completions are not used to train the models, access runs through Entra ID, and a private endpoint keeps the service off the public internet.
Abuse monitoring is on by default; for deployments in the European Economic Area the reviewers involved are located in the EEA as well, and organisations handling especially sensitive data can apply for modified abuse monitoring. The practical bottleneck is rarely the model but the tokens-per-minute quota in the desired region. Alendris has implemented Azure OpenAI at an energy utility for an enterprise-wide search across SharePoint, ServiceNow and SAP, and for the automated classification and evaluation of incoming documents.
