Data & AI Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

As a Data & AI Platform Engineer at Alendris, you build the foundation our enterprise AI solutions stand on: data platforms that reliably unlock, prepare, and serve company data to AI models. You develop pipelines from ingestion through chunking and embeddings to a searchable vector index, work with Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Microsoft Fabric, and Cosmos DB, and make sure data quality, governance, and access concepts are built in from the start. You are the interface between our AI engineers and our clients' data landscapes – and you play a decisive role in how well RAG systems and AI applications perform in practice.

What you'll do

• Design and develop data pipelines for AI workloads – from ingestion through preparation and chunking to embeddings and vector index
• Build and operate vector databases and Azure AI Search as the retrieval layer for RAG systems
• Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring, and automated tests along the pipelines
• Work closely with our AI engineers on supplying data to RAG systems and AI applications
• Design data governance and access concepts with Microsoft Purview and Entra ID
• Automate deployment of data platforms with infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform)
• Evaluate new Azure data and AI services and evolve our reference architectures

What we're looking for

• Degree in computer science, data engineering, business informatics, or a comparable qualification
• Solid development skills in Python and SQL
• Experience with Azure data services such as Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Cosmos DB, or Azure AI Search
• Understanding of embeddings, vector search, and RAG architectures
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform)
• Independent, structured way of working with high quality standards
• Very good German and English skills
